Job Description

Experience in the maritime transportation industry REQUIRED**

  • Obtain Bookings for full loads.
  • Arrange Intermodal moves with rail consolidators
  • Prepare loading guides for vessel planners and coordination of cargo.
  • Prepare proposals. Rate Bills of Lading as per appropriate tariff.
  • Input all documentation and prepare SEDs after vessel departure and to US Custom’s regulations.
  • Work closely with the Sales Team assuring that volumes of cargo are solicited and booked.
  • Initiate contact with new and/or existing accounts by placing phone calls, letters, flyers and mailing with the purpose of soliciting new or additional business.
  • Constant contact/coordination with all members of the company involved in the traffic operations.
  • Assist the Traffic Manager in the administration and management of the traffic operations
  • Assist customers with all requests. Inform customers of issues and discuss appropriate resolution on timely and satisfactory manner.
  • Maintain updated and available to Management the list of customers and a log of the phone calls made daily.
  • Handle multi-lined phones
  • Other duties assigned by company management

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in the shipping industry.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced atmosphere
  • Ability to work under stressful circumstances
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Skilled in complaint handling and resolution
  • Team oriented
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)

DOCUMENTATION CLERK

CORE DUTIES

  • Transcript all customer documentation into company system
  • Audit all customers’ documents before sending it
  • Make sure Bill of Lading are correctly rated
  • Post Bill of Lading to corresponding billing parties
  • Make bookings
  • Bill of Lading manifest
  • Send copy of Bill of Lading to the customer
  • Make sure customers receive their Bills of Lading on time
  • Answer phones calls from customers regarding any issues
  • Prepare SED (Shipper Export Declaration)

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Fluent in Spanish / English
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Excellent typing speed skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced atmosphere

Qualifications/skills

AT LEAST FIVE (5) YEARS EXPERIENCE. MARITIME SHIPPING CARGO EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

Bilingual – Proficient English / Spanish (verbal – writing – reading)

Proficient in Outlook – Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Strong work ethic. Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment / multitask
