In an effort to provide a more efficient and timely service to its customers, Antillean is tugging its vessels independently. Until now, Antillean used third-party companies to tug its vessels in and out the Miami River. These vendors service several other customers in the river and their availability and schedules did not always match Antillean’s needs.
Through a sister company, Miami River Towing Company, Antillean can now enjoy the freedom and flexibility of having a dedicated and exclusive towing service. Two steel hull tugs, namely, Pepin (76 GRT/51 NRT; 54.0 length, 22.0 breadth; HP 900) and Sara (97 GRT/66 NRT; 58.9 length, 24. breadth; HP 900) will be towing Antillean’s fleet exclusively from now own, A third tugboat (HP 1200) will be arriving later this year.
